Long before ski runs were cut, there was a group of unmarried men who called what is now "Bachelors Gulch" home. Logging, grazing, trapping and hay farming took place during the 1900s until the Great Depression.
John Anderson, Gunder Berg, Ed Howard, John Mertz and Ferdinand "Crippled" Smith were the original bachelors who settled the area. Some of the original cabins of these men are still standing in Bachelor Gulch Village.
